Day 1: Egilsstaðir and Stórurð
Meals: Lunch and dinner
Distance: 14 km / 8.7 miles
Hiking: 5-6 hours
Accommodation: Hotel ÁlfheimarStart your day by catching an 8:30 am flight from Reykjavik’s Keflavík International Airport to Egilsstaðir Airport. Once you arrive, meet your guide and group at 10 am, ready to start hiking immediately. Your hike today takes you to Stórurð, a beautiful area with huge tuff boulders scattered among meadows and lakes. Afterward, continue to the small village of Borgafjörður eystri, home to only 100 people, where you can explore various hiking trails and visit a marina to see puffins. After a day of hiking, enjoy a delicious local fish soup and other treats before settling into Hotel Álfheimar for the night. You also have the option to visit the puffins in the evening.
Day 2: Víknaslóðir Hike - Bakkagerði to Breiðavík
Meals: Breakfast, lunch, and dinner
Distance: 15 km / 9.3 miles
Hiking: 5-7 hours
Accommodation: BreiðavíkToday’s hike starts in the eastern part of Borgarfjörður, in Hofströnd. From there, you'll walk to Brúnavík, the first inlet of the day, where you can take in the stunning views of the North Atlantic. The journey continues to Breiðuvíkur, a small farmstead nestled in the cove of Kjólsvik. As you walk towards Glettinganes, the trail becomes rocky, so watch your step. The day ends with an evening at a cozy cabin near the beaches of Breiðuvík, where you'll relax after a full day of hiking.
Day 3: Víknaslóðir Hike - Breiðavík to Húsavík
Meals: Breakfast, lunch, and dinner
Distance: 14 km / 8.7 miles
Hiking: 4-6 hours
Accommodation: Mountain hut
Start your day by heading west from the cove and crossing the Stóruá River via a sturdy footbridge. As you continue south, a beautiful valley surrounded by striking mountains, including Hvítuhnjúkur and Hvítafjall, will unfold. Along the way, you'll pass by two tranquil lakes, Gæsavatn and Urðarhólavatn, before reaching a road that leads to Húsavík. You'll spend the night in a mountain hut on the site of an old farm that has been deserted since the 1950s, offering a peaceful end to the day.Day 4: Húsavík to Loðmundarfjörður

Distance: 12 km / 7.5 miles
Hiking: 4-5 hours
Accommodation: Mountain hutBegin the day with some exploration of Húsavík, the largest cove in Víknáslóðir, before setting off on a hike to the Loðmundarfjörður fjord. The trail takes you over the Nesháls ridge, where you'll want to pause and take in the breathtaking views of Loðmundarfjörður and Dalatanga on clear days. After crossing the ridge, you'll explore Loðmundarfjörður, a fjord once home to one of Iceland's most remote communities. Watch for wildlife, such as eider ducks, seals, reindeer, or wild horses, as they roam the vast moorland. You'll spend the night in a mountain hut within the fjord.
Day 5: Loðmundarfjörður to Seyðisfjörður

Distance: 14 km / 8.7 miles
Hiking: 6-8 hoursOn the final day of your hiking tour, you'll hike up to Hjálmárdalsheiði, reaching an altitude of around 600 meters. The path follows an ancient route between two fjords, making for a relatively easy hike. As you approach Seyðisfjörður, you'll descend through Kækjuskárð, navigating steep slopes to reach the charming town below. Once in Seyðisfjörður, you'll have some free time to explore before heading back to Egilsstaðir Airport for an evening flight to Reykjavik, or you can choose to stay longer in this picturesque region.
