What data we collect and why
Trip planning and contact requests. When you submit a trip-planning request (via our Typeform form) or contact us, we collect your name, email address, and the details you provide about your trip. We use this to prepare your itinerary and respond to you. Legal basis: performance of a contract or steps taken at your request before entering one.
Bookings and payments. When you book a tour, we collect the information needed to fulfil it: names of travellers, contact details, pickup location, and booking preferences. Payments are processed by our payment providers — we do not store your full card details. Legal basis: performance of a contract.
Newsletter. If you subscribe, we store your email address and use it to send you travel stories and offers. You can unsubscribe at any time via the link in every email. Legal basis: your consent.
Analytics and cookies. We use Google Tag Manager and analytics cookies to understand how visitors use our site (pages visited, device type, approximate location). This data is aggregated and not used to identify you personally. Legal basis: your consent, given via your browser/cookie settings.
Who we share data with
We share personal data only with service providers who help us operate:
- Vercel (website hosting, USA)
- Sanity (content management, USA/EU)
- Google (Tag Manager, analytics, USA)
- Typeform (trip-planning forms, EU)
- Bókun and tour operators (to fulfil your booking — only the details needed to deliver the tour you booked)
- Payment processors (to process payments)
- Email service provider (newsletter delivery)
Where providers are outside the EEA (e.g. the USA), transfers rely on the EU–US Data Privacy Framework or Standard Contractual Clauses. We never sell your personal data.
How long we keep data
- Booking and invoicing records: 7 years, as required by Icelandic accounting law (lög um bókhald nr. 145/1994)
- Trip-planning inquiries that don’t lead to a booking: up to [12] months
- Newsletter data: until you unsubscribe
- Analytics data: up to [26] months
Your rights
