About Sandgerði Swimming Pool
Sandgerði Swimming Pool is the public pool at the sports centre on Skólastræti in Sandgerði, a fishing town on the west coast of the Reykjanes peninsula. Sandgerði is part of the municipality of Suðurnesjabær and lies only about 10 km from Keflavík International Airport, which makes the pool one of the closest public pools to the airport.
The main pool is 25 metres long. There are two waterslides, named Hrollur and Buna, a wading pool, a massage hot tub at 38°C, a second hot tub at 40°C and a steam bath. The building also has a sports hall, a training room and a gym.
The pool suits travellers with an early flight, a long layover or a late arrival who want a swim and shower before driving on. The town campsite is nearby, and the Reykjanes coast south of Sandgerði, with Hvalsnes church and the Bridge Between Continents further on, is a quiet drive compared with the Blue Lagoon area.
Summer hours (1 June to 31 August) are 06:30–21:00 on weekdays and 10:00–16:00 at weekends. In winter (1 September to 31 May) the pool opens 06:30–20:30 on weekdays and 10:00–16:00 at weekends. Check the municipality's website for holiday changes.
The 2026 single adult ticket costs 1,250 ISK and a ten-visit card 7,300 ISK. Children up to 18 swim free, and seniors and disabled visitors from outside the municipality pay the children's rate, which is free. Towels and swimsuits can be rented for 750 ISK each, or 2,200 ISK for both together with entry.
