What other travelers are saying about

Stafafell Nature Park + Camping

A beautifully located basic campsite with a super friendly and helpful warden. The toilets (3) were clean, and there’s one shower included in the price. The kitchen is small but well equipped – it has everything you need. The price is very fair, especially for what’s offered. Would definitely stay here again!

This place was our favorite!! It’s off the route and less busy. The bathroom/shower aren’t glamorous, but as long as you know that then all is well. The owner is the most kind person who values people and their experience over anything else! We did a horseback riding tour and it was the highlight of our trip (and we aren’t horse people…) HIGHLY recommend. To be honest, I was skeptical because of the mean people leaving poor reviews. Don’t listen to them. STAY HERE! Get out of Höfn and drive here for the night, you won’t regret it. We had a truck with a truck-bed “trailer”. We hooked up to power and sat by the fire at night. Woke up to the owner showing some other guests the horse’s Icelandic trot down the pasture. The kitchen didn’t look glamorous, but people were using it without any problem.

July 2025. The campsite is a classic, laid-back, functional campsite. The tent is a good one and the mattress and bed sheets are good. The campsite manager was an amazing person to talk to, super laid-back, down to earth, friendly, and warm – and nature loving. This is a perfect place for someone who is going in for a camping night and not for glamping. Salt and pepper and oil were, for example, not included in the kitchen, and the pan variety was not peak, and, yeah, the cleanliness was not striking, but, perhaps after waiting in line for a bit, you’ll be able to shower and use the toilet just fine. Me and my mom are not campers, we did not bring our own tent or go in with camping equipment, and it was just fine. The space is enormous and deep in the nature but still by the Hringvegur. A delightful stay for someone not traveling with a tent. And there are horses too. And the owners, as well as the campsite manager/ranger, are friendly too. Pleasure ❤️
