BakaBaka is a bakery and restaurant located on Bankastræti in downtown Reykjavík, in the same building where Iceland’s first bakery opened in 1834. The space has been restored but keeps its historic character while offering a modern food experience.
In the morning and early afternoon, it runs as a bakery and café, serving fresh pastries, sourdough bread, breakfast dishes, and coffee. In the evening, it shifts to a relaxed restaurant with a menu focused on sourdough pizza and small sharing plates. The kitchen uses fresh ingredients and everything is made in-house.
BakaBaka is also known for its cocktails and natural wine list, making it a popular spot for both daytime visits and late-night meals. It has quickly become part of Reykjavík’s growing food scene by offering quality food in a place that blends local history with current tastes.
