About

Tryggvaskáli is not only a restaurant but also an important part of Selfoss’s history, as it is located in the oldest house in town, built in 1890. The building has been carefully preserved, keeping its historic charm while creating a warm and inviting atmosphere for guests. Its location by Tryggvatorg makes it a central meeting place for both locals and visitors exploring the area.

The kitchen focuses on fresh, seasonal Icelandic ingredients, working with local farmers and producers to bring out the best flavors in each dish. The menu changes through the year to reflect what’s in season, making every visit a little different. Dinner is served from 17:00, offering a variety of carefully prepared dishes that highlight the natural quality of the produce, meat, and seafood.

On weekends, from 11:30 to 15:00, Tryggvaskáli is well-known for its brunch, which combines classic favorites with Icelandic touches. Guests can enjoy their meals in a cozy dining area that reflects the building’s heritage or, in good weather, take in the fresh air outside.
