Itinerary

  1. Pickup and Transfer · Duration: 1 Hour

    Reykjavik Excursions will pick you up at your selected spot in Reykjavik. The bus will take you to the BSÍ Bus Terminal, where you will transfer to the bus heading to Silfra. This leg of the journey ensures you reach Silfra comfortably and on time.

  2. Arrival and Check-In · Duration: 15 Minutes

    Arrive at Silfra 15 minutes before the tour starts to meet your guide and group. You'll check in with the guides and be divided into six groups, each with a dedicated guide. This preparation period ensures everyone is ready and informed before the adventure begins.

  3. Briefing, Gear-Up, and Dive · Duration: 1 Hour 45 Minutes

    Your guide will give a detailed safety briefing and help you gear up. This session includes instructions on using the equipment and information about the significance of Silfra, located between tectonic plates. The dive lasts 30-45 minutes, and after a short wait at the entry platform, you can explore Silfra's stunning underwater landscape.

  4. Exit, Warm-Up, and Return · Duration: 1 Hour

    After diving, you exit the platform and return to the meeting point (approximately 250 meters). While chatting with your guide and viewing photos, you will remove your equipment and warm up with hot chocolate and cookies. When ready, you will be driven back to your hotel in Reykjavik, ensuring a comfortable end to your adventure.

Know before you go

  • Be a certified diver at the level of PADI Open Water or equivalent
  • Have dry suit diving certification and a logged dry suit dive within two years of the tour date OR have at least ten logged dry suit dives within two years of the tour date and provide written proof from a diving instructor
  • Read, sign, and follow directions on the Diving Medical Statement
  • Have our Diving Medical form signed off by a doctor if you are age 60 or older
  • Sign our liability release form at the start of the diving tour
  • Be at least 150 cm and no more than 200 cm in height
  • Be at least 45 kg and no more than 120 kg in weight
  • Fit within our dry suit size chart
  • Be at least 17 years of age (signature of legal guardian required for participants under 18)
  • Be physically fit
  • Be ready to wear a sometimes tight and constricting dry suit
  • Be able to communicate in English
  • Not be pregnant
  • Eat well before the tour

Q: Is diving experience required?

Ans: Yes, you must have an open-water diving certification and a dry-suit diving certification or at least ten logged dives to participate in this tour.

Q: Do I need to bring my own equipment?

Ans: No, all dive equipment is provided for the tour.

Q: What should I wear for the dive?

Ans: You will need long underwear and thick socks underneath the dry suit. We recommend wearing weather-appropriate clothing.

Q: Is there a weight or height limit?

Ans: Yes, participants must be between 150 cm and 200 cm in height and weigh between 45 kg and 120 kg to ensure the proper fit of the dry suit.

Q: Do I need diving experience, specifically in dry suits?

Ans: Yes, this tour requires either a dry suit diving certification or at least ten logged dives in a dry suit within the past two years.

Q: Is there a language requirement?

Ans: Yes, participants must be able to communicate in English, as all safety briefings and

instructions will be given in English.

Q: Do I need to bring any documentation with me?

Ans: Yes, you will need your SCUBA dive certification card (PADI Open Water or equivalent), and proof of dry suit diving certification or written confirmation of 10 logged dry suit dives within the past two years. You must also sign a liability release form at the dive site.
