Itinerary
Pick-Up (if applicable)
If you have booked a private tour with pick-up, you will first meet your driver at the selected pick-up location in Reykjavik.
Check-In and Gear-Up · Duration: 1 Hour 15 Minutes
Arrive at Silfra 15 minutes before your tour begins to check in with your guides. You'll receive a briefing and gear-up session, which includes putting on a drysuit and other necessary equipment. The guide will ensure everything fits correctly and provide a detailed safety briefing.
Entering the Water · Duration: 10 Minutes
Once fully dressed, you will walk to the entry point, which might involve a short wait. Your weight will be checked upon entering the water to ensure proper buoyancy. This preparation provides a smooth and safe diving experience.
Diving Experience · Duration: 30-45 Minutes
Spend 30 to 45 minutes exploring the crystal-clear waters of Silfra. Enjoy the unique experience of gliding between two tectonic plates witnessing vibrant colors and geological formations. This underwater journey is a highlight, providing stunning views and unforgettable moments.
Exit and Warm-Up · Duration: 15-20 Minutes
Exit the water through the platform and walk back to the meeting point. Remove your equipment and warm up with hot chocolate and cookies. This time allows you to chat with your guide, ask questions, and review the photos taken during the tour.
Drop-Off (if applicable)
If you have booked a tour with pick-up, your driver will drop you off at your location in Reykjavik.

Know before you go
- Be a certified diver at the PADI Open Water Diver level or equivalent.
- Have dry suit diving certification and a logged dry suit dive within two years of the Silfra tour date OR have at least ten logged dry suit dives within two years of the Silfra tour date and provide written proof from a diving instructor.
- Read, sign, and follow directions on the online Diving Silfra Medical Statement.
- Have the Diving Medical form signed off by a doctor if they are 60 or older.
- Sign the liability release form at the start of the Silfra dive tour.
- Be between 150cm and 200cm in height and 45kg and 120kg in weight.
- Fit within the dry suit size chart.
- Be at least 17 (legal guardian’s signature required for under 18 participants).
- Be physically fit and able to communicate in English.
- Be ready to wear a sometimes tight and constricting dry suit.
- Not be pregnant.
- Eat well before the tour.

Do I need previous diving experience?
Yes, this tour is only suitable for certified divers at the PADI Open Water Diver level or equivalent. You must also have dry suit diving certification or provide proof of at least ten logged dry suit dives within the last two years.
What equipment do I need to bring?
You should get your SCUBA dive certification card, proof of dry suit diving certification (if applicable), and suitable clothing for the day's weather conditions. All necessary dive equipment will be provided by the tour company.
Is there a minimum age requirement for this tour?
Yes, participants must be at least 17 years old. Under 18s will need a legal guardian's signature to participate in the tour.
Is a certain level of physical fitness necessary for this tour?
Participants should be physically fit and able to communicate in English. Please refer to the important information section for additional requirements. If you have any concerns about your physical ability, please consult your doctor before booking the tour.
Can I bring my own camera, or must I purchase photos from the tour?
You are welcome to bring your own camera, but please note that you will be responsible for keeping it safe and dry during the dive. Photos taken by the tour company's professional photographer can be purchased after the tour.
Is transportation included in the tour?
If you have booked a private tour with pick-up, transportation will be provided. Otherwise, participants must arrange their own transportation to and from Silfra.
What happens if there is inclement weather on the day of my tour?
In case of extreme weather conditions, the tour may be canceled or rescheduled. The tour company will update you as soon as possible and offer alternative options if available.
