Travel the Golden Circle on a full-day route through geothermal landscapes, waterfalls and one of Iceland's most important historic sites. This eight-hour small-group trip combines the three classic highlights with stops at Hveragerði and Kerið crater lake.

See Gullfoss fall through the Hvíta river canyon, watch Strokkur erupt in the Geysir geothermal area and walk through the rift landscape at Þingvellir National Park. The route is designed as an easy sightseeing day, with time outside at every major stop.

The shape of your day

  1. Start

    Pickup in Reykjavík

    Pickup begins at the booked departure time from selected Reykjavík locations. Collection can take up to 30 minutes depending on traffic and the pickup route.

  2. Hveragerði

    Pause in the geothermal town of Hveragerði, about 40 minutes from Reykjavík, with access to a bakery, refreshments and restrooms.

  3. Kerið crater lake

    Visit the colourful volcanic crater and take a short walk around its red slopes and aquamarine lake. Sturdy footwear is recommended.

  4. Gullfoss

    See glacial water from the Hvíta river descend 32 metres in two stages into a rugged canyon. Seasonal path conditions determine how close visitors can approach.

  5. Geysir and Strokkur

    Explore steaming ground, hot springs and the active Strokkur geyser, which commonly erupts every 4 to 10 minutes. The stop also provides time for lunch.

  6. Þingvellir National Park

    Walk through a visible rift between tectonic plates and learn about the site of Iceland's historic Alþingi beside Þingvallavatn.

  7. End

    Return to Reykjavík

    After the final stop, travel back to the selected Reykjavík drop-off location.
