We spent a night at the Artun heading to Akureyri from Godafoss. The setting is deep rural, we had to get off Route-1 for a bit and drive on mud roads with livestock and horses freely roaming around to reach the guest house. It is very quiet and peaceful, with excellent vistas all around.
Location is peaceful and picturesque. Mountains, lakes, greenery surrounding. We had a beautiful little cabin, felt cosy and comfortable . We arrived late but this was no problem as the reception was still open. Only small issue was low water pressure in the shower and no soap provided.
I arrived late at the camping site and couldn’t pay right away as reception was closed. Owner knocked on cars early in the morning to collect payment, disturbing my sleep, which I didn’t appreciate at all. Disappointed by the shift toward a money-driven culture since my last visit to Iceland in 2016.
