Akureyri Swimming Pool (Sundlaug Akureyrar) is the main public pool of North Iceland's largest town, at Skólastígur 4 on the hill above the town centre, a short walk from the Akureyri church and the botanical garden. It is one of the busiest and best-equipped pools outside the capital, and on sunny summer days it fills with families.

The complex has two 25-metre outdoor pools, a 12.5-metre indoor pool, a warm indoor pool, two wading pools and a cold tub. Four outdoor hot tubs include a large tub at about 38°C. Three waterslides are the main draw for children, and in summer a sun deck and an artificial-grass play area open beside the pools. Access for wheelchair users is good: the changing rooms are step-free and lifts serve the indoor pool, both outdoor pools and the large hot tub.

In winter the pool opens Monday to Friday 06:45–21:00 and at weekends 09:00–19:00. In summer, from about the end of May to late August, weekday hours stay the same while weekends are longer, from 08:00 to 21:00 on Saturday and 08:00–19:30 on Sunday. Holiday hours differ, so check before visiting on special days. Early mornings and weekday evenings are calmest.

A single adult ticket costs 1,400 ISK in 2026, with a reduced fare for children and free entry for disabled visitors.

The pool is an easy addition to a day in Akureyri, including for cruise passengers, as it is roughly 15 minutes' walk from the harbour. For a quieter indoor swim, Glerárlaug is on the north side of town. Showering without a swimsuit before entering the pool is required.
