About Borg Swimming Pool
Borg Swimming Pool is the pool at Íþróttamiðstöðin Borg, the sports centre in the small village of Borg in Grímsnes, South Iceland. It lies on Route 35, the Golden Circle road between Selfoss and Geysir, which makes it one of the few public pools directly on the Golden Circle route.
The main pool is 25 metres long. There is also a children's pool, hot tubs, a jacuzzi, a water slide and a sauna or steam bath, and the centre has a gym and a sports hall.
Borg is about 8 km, under ten minutes, from Kerið crater, about 22 km from Selfoss and around 75 km, or 1 hour 10 minutes, from Reykjavík. Þingvellir is about 50 minutes away. It is a practical place for a swim on the way back to Reykjavík after a day at Geysir and Gullfoss.
Under the 2026 price list, adults aged 18–67 pay 1,500 ISK, ages 10–17 pay 500 ISK and visitors over 67 pay 350 ISK. Children under 10 and disabled visitors swim free. A 10-visit adult card is 10,000 ISK. Swimsuits and towels can be rented for 800 ISK each, or 1,200 ISK for both.
Summer hours, from 1 June to 18 August, are weekdays 10:00–21:30 and weekends 10:00–18:00. Winter hours, from 18 August to 1 June, are weekdays 09:30–21:30 and weekends 10:00–18:00. Entry to the pool stops 20 minutes before closing, and holiday hours are announced on the Grímsnes- og Grafningshreppur website. As at all Icelandic pools, shower without a swimsuit before entering.
