About Laugarvatn Swimming Pool
Laugarvatn Swimming Pool is the municipal pool of Bláskógabyggð in the village of Laugarvatn, part of the sports centre at Hverabraut 2. Laugarvatn lies on the Golden Circle between Þingvellir and Geysir, roughly an hour's drive from Reykjavík, so the pool is an easy stop on a day's driving or for anyone staying in the village.
The complex has an outdoor pool, hot tubs and a steam bath, together with a gym and a sports hall. It is a plain local pool used mainly by locals rather than a spa, and it is not the same place as Laugarvatn Fontana, the commercial geothermal baths on the lake shore. The main reason to choose it is price: a swim and soak here costs a fraction of the spa entry, and the hot tubs are open all year.
The winter timetable for autumn 2026 is Monday to Thursday 13:00–21:00, Friday 13:00–18:00, Saturday 10:00–18:00 and Sunday 13:00–18:00. Summer hours differ and are announced by the municipality each spring, and holiday opening can change, so check before a special trip.
The 2026 tariff is 1,250 ISK for adults aged 17 to 67 and 600 ISK for children aged 10 to 16. Younger children, seniors and disabled visitors swim free. A 10-visit adult card costs 7,350 ISK, and swimsuits and towels can each be rented for 810 ISK. The pool's phone number is 480 3041. As at every Icelandic pool, you must shower without a swimsuit before getting in.
