About Flúðir camping
Flúðir camping is at Tjaldmiðstöðin Flúðum, the campground in the geothermal village of Flúðir in South Iceland, about an hour and a half by car from Reykjavík. Few village campsites are this close to a hot spring: the Secret Lagoon is less than a kilometer away, an easy walk after you pitch.
The field is large and open with no marked pitches, so the Flúðir campsite takes no reservations, and the operators say there is usually room for everyone. Tents, campervans and caravans are all welcome. Electricity is available, and the service building has free wifi along with washing machines and dryers.
The campsite is open from May 1 to September 30 and sets a minimum age of 25. In 2026, adults pay 2,200 ISK per night (1,800 ISK for stays of three nights or more), children aged 11–17 pay 1,500 ISK, and children 10 and under stay free. Electricity adds 1,500 ISK per night, and a weekly family deal for two adults and children with power costs 25,000 ISK.
Around the August bank holiday (July 27 to August 3 in 2026), only weekly passes are sold, and the site fills from the Tuesday before. The rest of the summer, the village pool, a grocery store and several places to eat are close by, and Gullfoss and Geysir are roughly 30 minutes north.
