Hreppslaug
About Hreppslaug
Hreppslaug is one of Iceland's older outdoor pools, built in 1928 at Andakíll near the mouth of Skorradalur in Borgarfjörður, West Iceland. It is still run by the local youth association, UMF Íslendingur, that built it. Water flows in continuously from nearby hot springs, and the pool is set in open farmland rather than a town.
There is one large pool and two small hot tubs, along with a sauna, a cold plunge and an outdoor shower. A new service building with changing rooms was completed before summer 2023. The pool keeps a simple, rural character, with none of the slides or amenities of town sports centres.
Hreppslaug is near Hvanneyri, a short drive from Borgarnes and about an hour and ten minutes from Reykjavík. Deildartunguhver hot spring and the Hraunsnef nature baths are within half an hour's drive, and Skorradalsvatn lake lies up the valley.
The 2026 prices are 1,750 ISK for adults aged 16 and over, 550 ISK for ages 6–16, and free for children under 6. A 10-visit card costs 13,150 ISK. Swimsuits or towels can be rented for 1,000 ISK, or 1,500 ISK for both, and no booking is needed.
Hreppslaug is seasonal. In May it opens on weekends 13:00–22:00. From 2 June to 23 August it is open Tuesday to Sunday 13:00–22:00 and closed on Mondays. From 24 August to 1 November it opens weekends only, 13:00–22:00, and it is closed in winter.
