About Klébergslaug
Klébergslaug is Reykjavík's most northerly city pool, in the Grundarhverfi neighbourhood of Kjalarnes at the foot of Mount Esja. It opened in 1998 and sits by the shore beside Route 1, about 30 minutes' drive from central Reykjavík, so it is usually far quieter than the city-centre pools.
The outdoor pool has hot tubs, a cold tub, a sauna, a water slide, a children's slide and a wading pool, plus a small gym. There is a spot for sea swimming nearby. There is one accessible parking space at the entrance and step-free access to the changing rooms and pool area, but no pool lift, and the sauna has steps. A private changing room is being built.
The pool is at Kollagrund 4, about 29 km from central Reykjavík. The Esja trailhead at Esjustofa is about seven minutes' drive away, which makes Klébergslaug a convenient place to soak after hiking Esja. The Hvalfjörður tunnel is about 7 km further north.
Under the city's fees in force since May 2026, adult entry is 1,500 ISK, ages 10–17 pay 400 ISK, and children under 10 swim free with a guardian. A 10-visit adult pass is 7,000 ISK. Swimsuits cost 1,270 ISK and towels 860 ISK to rent. The Reykjavík City Card gives free entry.
The pool's own page lists Monday–Thursday 09:00–22:00, Friday 09:00–19:00, Saturday 11:00–18:00 and Sunday 11:00–22:00, but the city's all-pools page gives weekend hours of 10:00–18:00, so check before a weekend visit. Public-holiday hours are shorter, and the pool is closed on Christmas Day.
