Pollurinn Hot Pots
About Pollurinn Hot Pots
Pollurinn is a set of small geothermal hot pots on the hillside just outside Tálknafjörður, a village in the southern Westfjords. The concrete tubs are fed by natural hot water and sit right above Route 617, with a wide view out over the fjord.
Locals simply call the place Pollurinn, meaning the puddle, and they use it all year. It is a good soak at the end of a long driving day, and on a calm evening you can sit in the hot water and watch the light change on the mountains across Tálknafjörður.
The pots are about 5 kilometers from the village center, roughly a 10-minute drive along Route 617, and about 25 minutes from Patreksfjörður. Park by the road and walk the short distance up to the pools. Next to them is a small cabin where you can change and leave your clothes.
Entry to Pollurinn is free, but there is a donation box, and the money helps keep the site going. There are no restrooms, and camping is not allowed at the pools. Keep noise down for others, and take everything you brought back out with you.
