Seltjarnarneslaug is the public pool of Seltjarnarnes, the small town on the peninsula at the western tip of the Reykjavík capital area. It is at Suðurströnd 8–10, about 3 km west of downtown Reykjavík, and is a short drive or bus ride from the Grótta lighthouse and nature reserve at the end of the peninsula.
The pool is known for its water, which comes straight from a local geothermal borehole and is noticeably mineral-rich. The outdoor 25-metre lap pool is kept at 29°C, and there is a 35°C children's pool, a toddler pool at 36 to 38°C, four hot tubs at 38 to 44°C and two cold tubs at 4 to 8°C. A steam bath, a water slide and play equipment complete the facilities, and accessible private changing rooms are available.
It is a good alternative to the busier Reykjavík pools for visitors staying in the west end or the Old Harbour area, and a relaxing way to finish a walk around Grótta or an evening of northern lights watching on the peninsula in winter. Weekday early mornings are popular with regular lap swimmers.
Opening hours are Monday to Friday 06:30–22:00 and Saturday and Sunday 08:00–19:30, with the same weekend hours on most public holidays. The pool is closed on New Year's Day, Easter, 1 May, Whit Sunday, 17 June, Christmas Day and Boxing Day. Under the 2026 tariff, adult entry is 1,300 ISK, and children under 18 and people aged 67 and over swim free. Swimsuits and towels are available for hire. The pool can be reached on 561 1551.
