Overview

A two-hour, maximum 12-person premium RIB whale-watching tour from Reykjavík, with suspension seats and seasonal puffin viewing.

A custom RIB carries up to 12 guests from Reykjavík’s Old Harbour, covering a broad search area and passing the city shoreline. Puffins may be included from late April to mid-August; outside that season the focus is whales and dolphins.

Departure, route and access may change with weather, natural conditions and the captain or guide’s safety decisions. Check availability for your travel date when booking.

The itinerary may change when weather, sea conditions or safety considerations require it.

  1. Start

    Check in and suit up

    Arrive at Ægisgarður 5c 30 minutes early for check-in, the safety waiver and protective clothing.

  2. RIB wildlife search

    Travel into Faxaflói Bay with a naturalist and certified captain, with a seasonal puffin stop when applicable.

  3. End

    Reykjavík shoreline and return

    Return along the city coast with views toward Harpa and Sun Voyager.

Know before you go

  • Arrive at least 30 minutes before departure. Meeting point: Ægisgarður 5c, Reykjavík.
  • Pickup is not available; guests must make their own way to the stated meeting point.
  • Minimum age: 10.
  • Activity level: Moderate.
  • Minimum age 10, minimum height 145 cm and maximum weight 140 kg.
  • Not recommended during pregnancy or for people with back or knee conditions.
  • Guests must be able to use the saddle-style seats and sign a safety waiver.
  • Bags cannot be carried on the RIB.
  • Wear warm layers, weatherproof outerwear and sturdy footwear suited to conditions on the water.
  • Whales, dolphins and puffins are wild and cannot be guaranteed. If no whales are seen, Elding offers a Classic Whale Watching return ticket under its return policy.
  • Cancellation is free until 24 hours before departure; cancellation within 24 hours receives no refund.
