Why stop in Vopnafjörður?
Choose between time in Vopnafjörður and an excursion into its surrounding valleys. Bustarfell’s turf-house museum and the riverside pool at Selárlaug are separate visits outside the town centre. Coastal places such as Fuglabjarganes require their own walking and access checks.
Planning your visit
Confirm museum and pool opening for your dates. Select the onward road using current conditions rather than choosing a mountain pass solely for its scenery. An old summer description of Hellisheiði eystri is not a guarantee of access, and it is distinct from the pass near Reykjavík with a similar name.
