About Ásgarðslaug

Ásgarðslaug is the main public swimming pool of Garðabær, the town between Reykjavík and Hafnarfjörður in the capital area. It is part of the Ásgarður sports centre in central Garðabær, about 15 minutes' drive from downtown Reykjavík, and is used mostly by local families, swim clubs and lap swimmers.

The 25-metre pool has five lanes and is kept at about 29°C. Younger children have a 65 cm deep children's pool at 32°C with massage jets, plus a 35°C wading pool with a small slide. For relaxing there are two massage hot tubs at 39°C and 42°C, a cold tub at 6 to 8°C and a 47°C steam bath. Accessible changing facilities and a wheelchair lift into the pool are available.

It is a good option for visitors staying in the southern suburbs, or anyone who wants a proper lane swim and a hot-and-cold routine without the queues and prices of the lagoons. Early mornings and evenings are popular with regular swimmers. The pool is open all year, and the Sunday evening opening in summer gives more time on long light nights.

Opening hours are Monday to Friday 06:30–22:00 and Saturday 08:00–18:00. On Sundays the pool is open 08:00–22:00 from 1 June to 30 September; check Sunday hours for the rest of the year. Garðabær's 2026 tariff sets adult single entry at 1,350 ISK, with swimwear and towel rental at 800 ISK each. Children aged 0 to 17, people aged 67 and over and disabled visitors swim free with the appropriate card, so visiting families should ask at the desk whether this applies to them.
