What other travelers are saying about

Campground Fjalladyrd/Mödrudalur

We just came back from our 15 day honeymoon around Iceland, we utilized the camping card for our overnight stays- and we both agree that this campsite was the best we stayed at! The remote location and beautiful atmosphere was something we’ll never forget. Not to mention all the animal friends we got to meet while staying here. Check in was easy, showers were hot, and there were plenty of electric hook up spots.

A campsite in the middle of nowhere, fascinating and truly striking. Totally immersed in the Icelandic steppe, with very harsh and challenging temperatures, but the location is worth it. We saw a reindeer and an Arctic fox. At night there is little light pollution if you want to see the Northern Lights. The facilities could be improved, especially considering the cold: I didn’t see any showers, the bathrooms are small and the sinks are outside with only cold water. The kitchen is charming but unheated and with cold water, though there’s a sweet little cat that steals your heart. In the evening, because of the cold, we had dinner at the mountain lodge’s restaurant — very beautiful, good, and expensive 🙈 I recommend it if you are spartan travelers looking for authenticity and places far from mass tourism.

The nicest campsite in Iceland.❤️ I really don't understand some of the reviews about the water temperature etc. If you are spoiled, don't go. If you want to experience a beautiful campsite with animals that you don't normally see, if you want to see beautiful houses, have a lot of space and a beautiful kitchen, go now. The advantage is also a beautiful restaurant and a walk around the area. Please be aware that this place is in the middle of nowhere and that's the beauty of it.
