It's an okay campground. It has a cozy and warm dining place but you cannot cook inside, only outside by using you own gas containers. The bathrooms are not the cleanest. What I didn't like was that we used the laundry and the dryer didn't work properly. We had to used it twice and our clothes were still wet. Also the showers are like the ones you have at the spas, without a curtain or anything, they are gender separate but the problem is that you have 2 doors to go to the bathroom and anyone could come from outside even by mistake and get directly inside the women's showers. So you must have someone guard the door because I've seen men entering 2 times there probably by mistake.
Campground with a hot tub, i think that says everything. If it doesn’t: it’s one of a few campsites that i’ve been to during my 10 day trip where showers are not paid and don’t close at night, it’s located right on the ring road which is pretty amazing, price is right on average of other campsites in the area and facilities are much better. loved it!
The reception is at “Uthlid cottages” make sure you follow the street into the location above. It was 4,400 ISK for two people. I was in a camper van. They had a restaurant, a kitchen (but no fire, no electric stove or gas stove), a hot tub, and a shower. The staff were friendly and supportive. They told me there isn’t really a check out time so I think you can be relaxed about leaving the place. The area had a private camping area and the area where you are allowed to stay. It also has electricity for camping cars. Although there is a lot of light pollution from the cottages the stars were easy to see. The bathroom in the camping area has no shower but four toilets which was heated. Not all of the toilets had tissues so make sure to keep that in mind before you sit down. The restaurant area had good food but poor ventilation so when you visit the restaurant (which is also the reception) your body catches the smell of food which was unpleasant.
