At first I thought the reviews were overdramatic but after staying I’ve realized that wasn’t the case. If you’re just stopping and sleeping it works but beware there’s absolutely no facilities for campers-even the singular bathroom inside is off limits. While this isn’t the biggest deal, it got worse when I met the host and she was immediately rude and off putting towards me within 10 seconds of meeting. Normally I’m not picky as I understand we are camping but in this case it’s it’s more than worth it to drive the 20 minutes to the next available site..
Potentially the worst campground on Iceland, if you can even call it that. Rude people, closed facilities. You are better off in the wild, anywhere on the side of a road.
The comments below are extremely dramatic. If you want a royal palace go stay in a hotel. There is a reason it’s called camping. This is not a bad campsite. I found the host very kind and it is a quiet peaceful place to camp. There is a bathroom and it is not even close to as bad as these comments make it to be. I found it to be a perfectly fine campsite.
