About Hafnarfjörður Camping

Hafnarfjörður Camping is the town campsite in Hafnarfjörður, beside Víðistaðatún park at Hjallabraut 51, about 10 kilometers south of central Reykjavík and roughly 30 minutes' drive from Keflavík Airport. For a first or last night of a trip, it's hard to beat on logistics.

Lava Hostel runs the site, which takes tents, campervans, caravans and motorhomes up to 12 meters long. Facilities cover toilets, hot showers, washing-up sinks, charcoal grills with benches and a disposal point for camper toilets. Electric hookups are in Zone B, and campers in Zone C can run a long cord across the driveway to reach them.

The campsite is open from May 15 through the end of September. For 2026, a tent costs 3,000 ISK and a campervan, caravan or motorhome 3,500 ISK, each including one adult, with 2,500 ISK for every extra adult and free stays for children 13 and under. Electricity adds 1,300 ISK a night, and lodging tax adds 400 ISK per tent or vehicle.

In July and August, book through the official website well ahead, since nights are paid up front. You can cancel up to 24 hours ahead for a 500 ISK fee, check-in starts at 1 p.m., and stays are capped at seven nights.

City buses and the airport bus stop nearby. The town pool, the harbor and the restaurants of Hafnarfjörður are a short walk or ride away, so you can leave the car parked for an evening.
