Day-by-day itinerary

A starting point, not a fixed route — request the full itinerary and we adjust it to your dates and pace.

  1. Day 1: WELCOME TO REYKJAVIK

Beautiful aerial view to Reykjavik downtown, Iceland

Once you've settled in Reykjavík, stroll down Laugavegur, the bustling main street with shops and cafes. Known as 'Steamy Cove' for its geothermal activity, Reykjavík boasts a rich culture, vibrant nightlife, and the ancient Alþingi parliament.

The city offers stunning views of mountains and the Atlantic. In summer, catch the mesmerizing midnight sun at the harbor. Geothermal wells provide affordable heating and a clean environment.

  2. Day 2: SOUTH COAST AND EPIC WATERFALLS

    Northern Lights above waters edge

Begin your day by collecting your rental car and embarking on a journey along the south, making a must-see stop at the astounding Seljalandsfoss waterfall—the sole one in Iceland, allowing you to walk behind it on a footpath!

Continuing your route, you'll encounter the magnificent 60-meter Skógafoss waterfall in Skógar. Consider enhancing your experience with optional activities such as a guided glacier hike, snowmobile tour, or ATV 4x4 excursion at Sólheimajökull for a truly distinctive adventure.

As night falls, clear skies might treat you to the mesmerizing spectacle of the northern lights. It's important to note that sightings of the northern lights are subject to natural conditions and cannot be guaranteed.

  3. Day 3: SKAFTAFELL AND GLACIER LAGOON

Breathtaking view of Skaftafellsjokull glacier tongue and volcanic mountains around on South Iceland.

Take time to explore Skaftafell, an area within the expansive Vatnajökull National Park known for its immense natural beauty. If you're seeking adventure, consider joining a guided glacier hike.

Next, proceed to Fjallsárlón, a smaller lagoon, before continuing your journey to the renowned Jökulsárlón glacier lagoon, where you can marvel at the surreal sight of drifting icebergs. Later, make a stop at Diamond Beach, where shimmering ice fragments rest on the black sands.

Please note that venturing onto a glacier or attempting ice climbing should always be done under the guidance of a licensed and experienced professional.

  4. Day 4: BLACK SAND BEACHES AND HVOLSVÖLLUR

Dyrhólaey Promontory, Iceland, North Atlantic Ocean

Today's journey along the south coast promises remarkable sights. Notable stops include the volcanic black sand beaches near Vík village and the striking 120-meter-high Dyrhólaey promontory, offering breathtaking views, a dramatic rock arch, cliffs, and the unique Reynisdrangar basalt columns emerging from the ocean.

Another intriguing spot on the route is the Lava Center in Hvolsvöllur, an exhibition focused on volcanoes and earthquakes (admission not included), or you can opt for an exciting activity.

Exercise caution when visiting Reynisfjara Beach near Vík due to potent rogue/sneaker waves and strong undertow currents. Keep safe from the water's edge and familiarize yourself with warning signs before exploring the beach.

  5. Day 5: GOLDEN CIRCLE

Geysir on the south west Iceland.

Travel the Golden Circle route on your return to the capital. Begin by visiting the volcanic explosion crater Kerið, then proceed to the Geysir geothermal area to discover bubbling mud pots and erupting geysers.

Continue your journey by stopping at the magnificent two-tiered Gullfoss waterfall before concluding the circle at the distinctive Þingvellir National Park. Þingvellir holds UNESCO World Heritage Site status due to its historical importance in establishing Icelandic democracy and its captivating natural landscapes.

  6. Day 6: DEPARTURE

Airport sign - Departure all gates, Keflavik, Iceland.

As your Iceland adventure draws to a close, a shuttle bus will collect you from your accommodation approximately three hours before your flight for airport transfer.

If your flight is scheduled for the afternoon, you can choose to unwind in the soothing mineral waters of the Blue Lagoon geothermal spa before proceeding to the Keflavik International Airport.
