This 2-day adventure takes you through the most beautiful parts of Iceland’s South Coast. You’ll see stunning waterfalls like Seljalandsfoss and Skógafoss, walk on a glacier with a guide, and explore a magical blue ice cave during the winter season. The tour also includes a visit to Jökulsárlón Glacier Lagoon and Diamond Beach, where glittering ice pieces rest on the black sand.
You’ll also stop at Reynisfjara Black Sand Beach, famous for its unique landscape and powerful waves. In the evening, you’ll stay at a quiet countryside hotel, giving you a good chance to see the Northern Lights if conditions are right. This trip is perfect for anyone who wants to experience Iceland’s incredible nature in just two days, starting and ending in Reykjavík.
Experience the beauty of Iceland’s South Coast as we travel from Reykjavík to the glacier region, stopping at breathtaking waterfalls and ending the day with a chance to see the Northern Lights.
Your journey begins bright and early at 08:00 AM. Once everyone’s on board, we head east along the stunning coastline. Your guide will share local stories, practical tips, and fun facts to make the drive both comfortable and engaging.
Our first stop is the famous Seljalandsfoss. This waterfall offers a rare opportunity to walk behind the cascading water, creating a truly unforgettable moment. Bring a raincoat and get ready for spectacular photos.
A short drive brings us to Skógafoss, a massive waterfall surrounded by lush green cliffs. Climb the staircase to admire the panoramic views or stay at the base to feel the mist and maybe catch a rainbow.
At Skaftafell (or Sólheimajökull if conditions require), we meet our glacier guide and gear up with crampons, helmets, and ice axes. Step onto centuries-old ice, explore striking blue formations, and enter a natural ice cave in winter. It’s a true once-in-a-lifetime experience—so wear sturdy shoes and warm layers.
After an exciting day, we settle in at a cozy guesthouse near Jökulsárlón Glacier Lagoon (usually Gerði Guesthouse or similar). Enjoy a warm meal, relax in the peaceful countryside, and prepare for a quiet night under the stars.
From September to March, the night sky may light up with the Aurora Borealis. Far from city lights, this area offers excellent viewing conditions. Your guide will keep an eye on the forecast and guide you to the best spots to see the dancing lights.
On day two, we explore Iceland’s most stunning glacial scenery before making our way back to Reykjavík. The journey is filled with unforgettable landscapes and dramatic coastal views.
Start your morning surrounded by floating icebergs at this breathtaking lagoon. Fed by the Vatnajökull glacier, the lagoon offers a constantly changing view of shimmering blue and white ice.
Just across the road, ice chunks wash ashore on black sand, sparkling like diamonds in the sun. The mix of black volcanic sand and glowing ice creates a perfect photo opportunity.
As we head back west, we stop at Reynisfjara. Famous for its powerful waves, dramatic sea stacks, and basalt columns, this black sand beach is one of Iceland’s most striking natural wonders.
We end our adventure with a scenic drive back to Reykjavík. Arrival time may vary slightly depending on weather and road conditions, but the memories will last long after the journey ends.
Yes, there is a good chance to spot the Northern Lights during the tour because the hotel is located far from city lights. While sightings can’t be guaranteed since the Aurora is a natural phenomenon, the guide will monitor the forecast and give tips to maximize your chances.
While we can’t promise Northern Lights sightings, our countryside accommodation gives you a better chance to see them. If they don’t appear during the tour, you’ll receive information and special discounts for a dedicated Northern Lights tour from Reykjavík.
Cancellations made at least 24 hours before departure qualify for a full refund minus a small card fee. Cancellations made later than that may not be refunded, but in some cases, you may be offered a discount on another tour.
Yes, solo travelers are welcome. Since rooms are not shared between solo travelers, a Single Supplement Fee is required at the time of booking. This ensures everyone enjoys a private and comfortable stay during the tour. Couples and groups will automatically receive room arrangements that match their group size.
