Overview
Forest Lagoon sits in birch and pine woodland at Vaðlaskógur, on the east side of Eyjafjörður, across the water from Akureyri. The pools look out over the fjord. There are two of them, both held at 37°C: a larger pool of 530 m² and a smaller, quieter one of 330 m².
The larger pool has three swim-up bars and an entrance from inside the building. There is also a Finnish-style dry sauna, run at around 80°C with low humidity, with a view over Eyjafjörður and the mountains around it, and a cold pool nearby at 11°C for moving between hot and cold. The Forest Bistro is wood-clad, has a fireplace indoors and looks out over the fjord.
Two tickets are sold here. Warm covers admission and a locker. It does not include a towel, though you can add towel rental as an extra when you book. Delight covers admission, a towel, lockers for clothes and valuables, shampoo, conditioner and shower gel in the showers, and two drinks at one of the swim-up bars. Few people travelling have a towel with them, so that is the choice worth thinking about. Bring a swimsuit, or rent one on site.
There is no guide and no pickup with this ticket. You make your own way to Vaðlaskógur, 605 Akureyri, and go in at the time you booked. The first slot is at 09:00, then every half hour from 10:00 to 22:00, and booking closes an hour before the time you pick. Public transport runs nearby if you are not driving.
