Overview
A standard lava-tunnel tour with bus transport from BSÍ in Reykjavík and about one hour on the lit walkway inside Raufarhólshellir. Hotel pickup is optional.
The tour departs from BSÍ bus terminal. Optional hotel or bus-stop collection runs before departure and is operated by Reykjavík Excursions; follow the pickup details on your booking. Inside the cave, a footbridge and fixed lighting lead through the section formed by the eruption. Helmet, lights and crampons if needed are provided; wear sturdy hiking shoes and warm clothes.
The three-hour total covers travel and roughly one hour underground, and there is no guide on the transport bus.
