Overview
A guided caving tour to the far end of Raufarhólshellir, three to four hours over boulders and rough ground, for guests aged 12 and over.
Small groups follow a caving guide by head torch beyond the standard route, on to the end of the tunnel and the lava falls where the flow that formed the cave began. Helmet, light, gloves and crampons if needed are provided. The cave holds 3–4°C year round, so warm clothing and hiking boots with ankle support are required.
Transport is not included: guests make their own way to Raufarhólshellir and arrive 10–15 minutes before departure. The route crosses large rocks and boulders, and the operator does not recommend it for pregnant guests or anyone affected by claustrophobia.
