Overview
A 90-minute sightseeing flight by plane from Skaftafell over Vatnajökull, the Lakagígar craters and the highlands around Landmannalaugar.
The plane leaves Skaftafell Terminal with a window seat for every passenger and a pilot-guided route set on the day by weather and visibility. It runs west and inland over Vatnajökull's outlet glaciers, then across the highlands, where depending on conditions, the Lakagígar crater chain and the coloured mountains around Landmannalaugar come into view, before returning over black sand plains and braided glacial rivers. Parking at the terminal is free and coffee or tea is served afterwards.
