Laugarbakki
Laugarbakki is beside Route 1 and the Miðfjarðará river in Northwest Iceland. It is a useful overnight or onward-route planning stop.

Why stop in Laugarbakki?
Laugarbakki’s position near Route 1 makes it a different choice from a coastal sightseeing village. It can serve as an overnight stop while planning visits towards Hvammstangi and Vatnsnes. The road towards Arnarsvatnsheiði is a separate inland journey that needs its own preparation.
Planning your visit
Choose accommodation and check its services directly rather than relying on older seasonal hotel listings. Do not treat the inland road as a shortcut without checking access, conditions and vehicle suitability. If your aim is seal watching, plan the coastal route separately from arrival in Laugarbakki.
