Hvammstangi Swimming Pool is the outdoor pool at the sports centre of Húnaþing vestra in Hvammstangi, the main village on the Vatnsnes peninsula in North-west Iceland. The village lies about 6 km off the Ring Road on Route 72, and the pool is on Hlíðarvegur, up the hill from the harbour.
The main pool is 25 by 11 metres with four lanes. Alongside it are a hot tub with water jets, a children's hot tub, a wading pool, a waterslide and a steam bath. Guests can also use a washing machine and dryer, which is handy for campers and cyclists, and there is a gym in the building. The pool opened in 1982 and the adjoining sports hall in 2002.
For travellers, the pool is a convenient stop on the long Ring Road stretch between Borgarnes and Akureyri, or at the start or end of the gravel loop around Vatnsnes to Hvítserkur and the seal-watching spots on the peninsula. The Icelandic Seal Center and the Kirkjuhvammur campsite are both in the village.
Summer hours (1 June to 31 August) are 07:00–21:00 on weekdays and 10:00–18:00 at weekends. Winter hours (1 September to 31 May) are 07:00–21:30 Monday to Thursday, 07:00–19:00 on Fridays and 10:00–16:00 at weekends. Ticket sales stop 30 minutes before closing, and guests must leave the building within 15 minutes of closing time.
The 2026 prices are 1,200 ISK for an adult single entry, 340 ISK for children of compulsory school age (6–15) and 600 ISK for seniors and disabled visitors. A ten-visit adult card costs 8,500 ISK, and a swimsuit or towel can be rented for 805 ISK.
