About Dalvík Swimming Pool
Dalvík Swimming Pool is the public geothermal pool of Dalvík, a fishing town on the western shore of Eyjafjörður, about 45 km north of Akureyri on the road around the Tröllaskagi peninsula. It is part of the Dalvík sports centre at Svarfaðarbraut 34, with a gym and sports hall in the same complex.
The outdoor pool measures 12.5 by 25 metres. Around it are hot tubs, a children's pool, a relaxation pool, a water slide, a water mushroom for small children and a steam bath. It is a good stop on the Tröllaskagi coastal drive between Akureyri, Ólafsfjörður and Siglufjörður, before or after a whale-watching trip or the ferry to Hrísey from nearby Árskógssandur.
The pool is open all year. Listed hours are Monday to Thursday 06:15–20:00, Friday 06:15–19:00, Saturday 09:00–17:00 and Sunday 11:00–17:15. The municipality does not publish a current timetable on its own page and posts changes on social media, so confirm the hours before travelling, especially around public holidays.
Under Dalvíkurbyggð's 2026 tariff, adult entry is 1,400 ISK. Children aged 6 to 18, pensioners and disabled visitors pay 500 ISK. A 10-visit adult card costs 11,200 ISK. A swimsuit or towel can be rented for 1,000 ISK each. The sports centre can be reached on 460 4900. As at every Icelandic pool, shower without a swimsuit before you get in.
