About Eyjafjarðarsveit Swimming Pool
Eyjafjarðarsveit Swimming Pool is the outdoor pool at Hrafnagil, about 13 km south of Akureyri, beside Hrafnagilsskóli school and the municipal sports centre. It reopened after renovation in 2007 and is designed for families, with the whole pool area visible from one place.
The main pool is outdoors, 25 by 10 metres, and about 30°C. There is a large wading pool, a hot tub, a steam bath and a large water slide, plus a cold tub in summer. Disabled access is good, with a private changing room and hoists into the hot tub and the pool. The municipal campsite is next door, and the wider sports site includes an indoor hall and sports pitches.
From Akureyri, drive south on Route 821 along the west side of the fjord for about 15 minutes. The pool is a good alternative to the busier town pools, and the Forest Lagoon and Glerárlaug are both within about 15 minutes' drive.
Under the 2026 price list, adults pay 1,100 ISK, ages 6–17 pay 350 ISK and visitors aged 67+ pay 500 ISK; disabled visitors swim free. Swimsuits or towels can be rented for 1,000 ISK each, or 1,650 ISK for both.
Winter hours, from 22 August 2026, are Monday–Thursday 06:30–08:00 and 14:00–22:00, Friday 06:30–08:00 and 14:00–19:00, and weekends 10:00–19:00. Summer hours, from late May, are weekdays 06:30–22:00 and weekends 10:00–20:00. The pool is closed on 25, 26 and 31 December and 1 January.
