About Grafarvogslaug

Grafarvogslaug is the public swimming pool of Grafarvogur, a residential district in the east of Reykjavík. It stands at Dalhús 2 and is run by the City of Reykjavík. It is a local pool rather than a tourist spot, which is the main reason to go: you swim alongside residents, away from the busier central pools such as Laugardalslaug.

The facilities are extensive for a neighbourhood pool. There are indoor and outdoor pools, including a 25-metre pool, plus a children's pool, a wading pool, two slides, several hot tubs, a cold tub, a whirlpool bath, a steam room, a sauna and an infrared sauna. Children can also try the Wipeout obstacle track, and there is a fitness trail and running routes outside.

The pool is open 06:30–22:00 on weekdays and 09:00–22:00 at weekends, so late-evening swims are possible every day. It is a sensible choice if you are staying in the eastern suburbs or in Mosfellsbær, or driving in from the north on Route 1.

From 5 May 2026, a single adult entry costs 1,500 ISK and a ten-visit adult card 7,000 ISK. Children aged 10–17 pay 400 ISK, and children up to 9 swim free with a guardian. Towel hire costs 860 ISK and swimwear hire 1,270 ISK. Accessibility is good: there is an accessible pool, barrier-free routes through the changing and pool areas, an indoor lift, a portable outdoor lift and a private changing room, though that room is closed at set weekday times.
