Grímsey Swimming Pool is the small indoor pool on Grímsey, Iceland's northernmost inhabited island, about 40 km off the north coast and crossed by the Arctic Circle. It belongs to the municipality of Akureyri and serves the island's few dozen residents. Because Grímsey has no geothermal heat, all of the water has to be heated, which is why the pool is indoors and open only for short periods.
The pool is about 12.5 metres long and 6 metres wide, with a hot tub and a sauna. It has no special facilities for disabled visitors, although a wheelchair can move around inside the building. It is a local amenity rather than a visitor attraction, but it can be a welcome warm-up for anyone staying overnight on the island.
Opening hours are short: 17:00–18:15 on weekdays, and the pool is closed at weekends. Day visitors arriving by the morning ferry or a daytime flight will usually have left before it opens, so it is mainly useful for people staying the night. Changes are posted in the island shop, so check there or phone the pool before planning around it.
Grímsey is reached by the Sæfari ferry from Dalvík, which leaves at 09:00 on three to five days a week depending on the season, or by Norlandair flights from Akureyri two or three times a week. Most visitors come to cross the Arctic Circle line and see the island's puffins and other seabirds in summer.
The 2026 prices match Akureyri's other pools: 1,400 ISK for adults and 310 ISK for children aged 6–17, with free entry for under-6s and disabled visitors. Cards bought here are also valid at Akureyri, Glerárlaug and Hrísey pools. Towels and swimsuits can be rented for 1,040 ISK each.
