About Gróa Sælkeraverslun
Soups, salads and sandwiches — much of it vegetarian or vegan, with organic and seasonal leanings — are the core of Gróa Sælkeraverslun, a café and gourmet shop in downtown Reykjavík. Its own tags run from Icelandic to Mediterranean to international, which in practice means a healthy, flexible lunch counter rather than one fixed cuisine.
When a run of heavy restaurant meals starts to tell, a light lunch of soup and salad resets the appetite. Step-free access makes it an easy call for anyone travelling with a wheelchair or a pushchair, and a takeaway wrapped up here can double as lunch on a drive out of town. Just keep in mind it stays shut on Sundays.
