Höfnin Restaurant

About Höfnin Restaurant
Höfnin Restaurant, located on Geirsgata by Reykjavík’s harbor, is a family-run spot opened by Brynjar and Elsa in 2010. It sits in one of the harbor’s distinctive aquagreen buildings, which were built in the 1930s and once served as baiting sheds and storage for fishing gear. The owners have taken great care to preserve the charm and history of the building, keeping the spirit of the old harbor alive while creating a warm and welcoming dining space.
The menu is inspired by Iceland’s coastal traditions, featuring fresh seafood alongside other classic Icelandic dishes. Ingredients are carefully chosen, often sourced locally, to ensure both freshness and quality. Guests can enjoy their meal with views of the harbor, where fishing boats and the surrounding waterfront add to the restaurant’s authentic maritime atmosphere.
Höfnin is more than just a place to eat—it’s a place where history, local flavors, and warm hospitality come together. Whether you’re looking for a taste of traditional Icelandic cooking or simply a memorable meal by the sea, it offers a dining experience rooted in both the past and present of Reykjavík’s harbor life.
