Ísafjörður
Ísafjörður is a Westfjords hub for harbour history, neighbouring villages and organised outdoor trips. Hornstrandir requires a separate travel plan.

Why stop in Ísafjörður?
The historic town and harbour provide a practical focus when visiting Ísafjörður. Nearby Bolungarvík, Flateyri, Suðureyri and Súðavík each offer a different village stop. Excursions towards Hornstrandir belong to a separate wilderness itinerary, with their own transport and preparation.
Planning your visit
If arriving by cruise ship, match the meeting point and return allowance to your ship schedule before choosing an excursion. For Hornstrandir, check the operator’s sailing, landing and return arrangements; do not treat a harbour departure as a guarantee that every hiking route is accessible.
