About Sundhöll Ísafjarðar
Sundhöll Ísafjarðar is the indoor swimming pool in central Ísafjörður, the largest town in the Westfjords. It opened in 1945 and has a 16-metre pool, one hot tub, one cold tub and a sauna, with a small sports hall in the same building. It is Ísafjörður's town pool; the nearest outdoor pool is at Suðureyri, about 20 km away.
The pool is at Austurvegur 9, within walking distance of the town centre and the harbour. Changing rooms are shared, with no private cubicles. The sauna is reached from one changing room only, so it alternates: women on Tuesday, Thursday and Sunday, men on Monday, Wednesday and Saturday, and Fridays alternate by week.
Winter hours, from 23 August, are Monday–Wednesday and Friday 07:00–08:00 and 16:00–21:00, Thursday 07:00–08:00 and 18:00–21:00, and weekends 10:00–17:00. Summer hours, from 2 June, are weekdays 10:00–21:00 and weekends 10:00–17:00. The pool is closed on 17 June, Iceland's National Day.
Under the municipality's fees valid from 1 August 2026, single entry is 1,420 ISK, a 10-visit card is 8,530 ISK and a 30-visit card is 20,470 ISK. Under-18s swim free, and towels and swimsuits can be rented for 1,140 ISK each. Annual passes also work at the other Ísafjarðarbær pools and in Bolungarvík.
As at every Icelandic pool, you must shower without a swimsuit before entering. Phones and cameras are not allowed in the changing rooms. Children under 10 must be with a swimmer aged 15 or over.
