Ultimate Iceland Helicopter Tour from Skaftafell

  • Operated by Atlantsflug

Overview

Up to 150 minutes in the air with two landings, on a pilot-guided helicopter tour from Skaftafell across Vatnajökull's outlet glaciers and the highlands beyond.

Flights leave from Skaftafell Terminal and the pilot fixes the route on the day, working out from Vatnajökull's outlet glaciers into volcanic country: crater formations, lava fields, highland mountains and valleys, black sand plains and braided glacial rivers. Two landings break up the flight at remote sites, giving time on the ground in two different settings. Parking at the terminal is free and coffee or tea is served after the flight.

Departures need four passengers; smaller bookings are combined with other guests where possible, and if the minimum is not reached you can reschedule or take a full refund. Route, landing sites and departure times all change with weather and visibility, and landings are made only when the pilot judges conditions safe. There is no pick-up, so guests make their own way to Skaftafell; closed, sturdy shoes and warm layers are advised.
