Overview
A six-hour tour from Egilsstaðir harbour to Stuðlagil Canyon, for a maximum of eight participants, with a self-guided walk in from the car park.
A driver-guide based in Egilsstaðir runs the route inland through the valleys of the Eastfjords, with sightseeing stops along the way, then sets guests down at the main car park for the canyon. Stuðlagil is a run of basalt columns above a turquoise river. Pick-up and drop-off at Egilsstaðir harbour are included.
The walk at the canyon is not guided and can take up to two hours depending on pace, with steeper ground closer to the canyon. Climbing down to the river involves rock scrambling, which the operator does not advise without experience. The minimum age is 14.
