Lake Mývatn & Dettifoss

Overview

Goðafoss, the Lake Mývatn area and Dettifoss in one eight-hour day tour, with an optional Forest Lagoon soak on the return to Akureyri.

The first stop is Goðafoss, followed by the Lake Mývatn area and the Dimmuborgir lava maze, then a break for refreshments at a local restaurant and the drive on to Dettifoss, where a short walk leads to a second waterfall nearby. Transport and a guide are included.

The refreshment stop is paid for separately, as is entry to the Forest Lagoon if guests take the optional stop on the way back into Akureyri. Good shoes, a jacket, and a hat and gloves in the colder months are advised.

  1. Start

    Departure from Akureyri

    Meet at your confirmed Akureyri pickup point; travellers without pickup meet at Hof Cultural Centre.

  2. Goðafoss

    Begin the sightseeing at Goðafoss waterfall.

  3. Lake Mývatn and Dimmuborgir

    Explore the Lake Mývatn area and the Dimmuborgir lava formations.

  4. Dettifoss and a nearby waterfall

    Visit Dettifoss, with a walk to another nearby waterfall when conditions allow.

  5. End

    Return to Akureyri

    Return to Akureyri after the waterfall visits. Forest Lagoon is an optional extra, subject to your booking.
