Whale Watching Tour
Arrival at the Meeting Point

Start your adventure by arriving at Elding Adventures at Sea in Reykjavik's old harbor, where you'll check in and receive your boarding tickets. Meet the crew at the visitor center, where they will introduce the tour and an overview of what to expect. Before boarding, visit the wildlife exhibition to learn about the animals you might encounter.
Board the Whale Watching Boat
Duration: 3 Hours
Board the whale-watching boat and set off on a thrilling three-hour adventure at sea. Look for majestic humpback whales, minke whales, and playful dolphins in their natural habitat. Enjoy the stunning oceanic views and expert commentary from your guide.
Return to the Harbor
Duration: 30 Minutes
After an exhilarating experience at sea, the boat will return to the harbor. Disembark and reflect on the memorable sightings and experiences of the tour. This marks the end of the whale-watching segment of your adventure.

Arrival and Check-In
Duration: 15 Minutes
Arrive at Silfra 15 minutes before your tour starts time to check in with your guides. You'll be divided into groups of six, with each group assigned a dedicated guide. The guide will provide a detailed briefing and assist you with gearing up, which takes about an hour.
Water Entry and Snorkeling
Duration: 30 to 45 Minutes
Once fully suited, your guide will take your group's number from the park ranger and lead you to the entry platform. Spend 30 to 45 minutes snorkeling in the crystal-clear waters of Silfra, marveling at the underwater landscapes and vibrant aquatic life. This experience allows you to witness the unique rift between the North American and Eurasian tectonic plates up close.
Exit and Warm-Up
Duration: 30 Minutes
After your snorkeling session, exit through the platform and walk back to the meeting point, about 250 meters away. Remove your equipment and enjoy hot chocolate and cookies to warm up. Take this time to chat with your guide, ask questions, and look at the photos taken during the tour.

- Complete and sign the online Snorkeling Silfra Medical Statement.
- Obtain a doctor's signature on our Snorkeling Medical form if you are 60 or older.
- Sign the liability release form at the start of the snorkeling tour.
- Be between 150 cm and 200 cm in height.
- Weigh between 45 kg and 120 kg.
- Fit within our dry suit size requirements.
- Be 12 years old and weigh at least 45 kg / 99 lbs.
- Be comfortable in the water and able to swim.
- Be physically fit.
- Be prepared to wear a tight and constricting dry suit.
- Be able to communicate in English.
- Not be pregnant.
- Eat well before the tour.
Important Information
- Please bring long underwear, thick socks, suitable clothes for the day's weather, and contact lenses if you wear glasses.
- You will not be allowed to participate if you are pregnant, have a history of heart problems, or have recently undergone surgery.
- The minimum age for snorkeling is 12, and the maximum weight limit is 120 kg (264 lbs).
- Due to the high elevation above sea level, it is recommended that you do not fly within 24 hours of your tour.
- Snorkeling in Silfra requires moderate physical fitness and good health. If you have any concerns, please consult with your doctor before booking.
